Auckland is currently supported by three Response Teams. These teams help before, during, and after emergencies across the region. Their work includes:

  • Gathering information to access impacts
  • Helping with evacuations, security, cordons, and traffic control
  • Incident management and communications
  • Providing first-aid and medical support
  • Sharing public advice, messages, and warnings
  • Rescuing trapped or injured people

Our highly motivated and formally trained teams are dedicated to supporting the community when needed. While each team is based in a specific area, they support emergency response throughout Auckland.

Response Team Training

Auckland Response Teams train every Tuesday night from 7pm – 9pm, with occasional weekend training involved. All training follows the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) standards. Teams are assessed by NEMA every three years to check they meet the required skill levels.

  • Advance First Aid
  • Emergency driving and 4WD
  • Radio and Communications
